Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK has acquired a leading analytical testing consultancy which focuses on FOSFA and GAFTA testing for imported products including food, feed and oils as well as damaged cargo tests.

On 12th March, Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK acquired Salamon & Seaber which was founded in 1910 and today offers a wide range of UKAS-accredited analytical testing services including oils, seeds, fats, and cereals, grains and pulses.

The business is run by Michael Blotz who has been with the company for over 40 years, employs a total of 12 employees and is based in the City of London. All staff will be transitioned to the Eurofins business and the brand name of Salamon & Seaber will remain.

Mark Carnaghan, Managing Director of Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK, said: “Salamon & Seaber has built an enviable reputation as the industry recognised expert in FOSFA, GAFTA, commodities and feed testing. Like Eurofins, the team truly prides themselves on providing reliable testing services to ensure the highest levels of quality and standards are met for a diverse range of customers. The team is expert in their fields and we’re delighted to welcome them into the Eurofins Group.”

Salamon & Seaber was established in 1910 in Mark Lane as a partnership between Maurice Salamon and William Macro Seaber, who recognised that quality control was an ever-more demanding requirement from buyers and sellers of goods imported into the London Docks from all over the British Empire.

Michael Blotz added: “Salamon & Seaber is a unique business, providing a large portfolio of analytical testing services for a diverse range of sectors for clients around the world. Our aim is always to support our clients with a personal service that is both trusted and appreciated. We are delighted to join the Eurofins group in a new chapter in our history where these principles will not only be upheld, but also enhanced.”
