News and Events >> News >> Expanded Testing for Ethylene Oxide EtO

We are excited to announce an expansion of our accredited Ethylene Oxide (EtO) testing capabilities at our Wolverhampton laboratory. We now offer EtO testing for additional matrix types, specifically food additives and thickeners, alongside our existing scope for seeds and spices.

Following ISO 17025 validation procedures, our expanded testing is performed using a dedicated GC-MS/MS system, ensuring the highest levels of sensitivity and specificity for detecting EtO and its metabolite 2-Chloroethanol. This enables us to meet the required Maximum Residue Level (MRL) for ethylene oxide, providing accurate and reliable results.

The reporting level at 0.01 mg/kg, is fully aligned with legislative limits for the newly added matrices. By performing this analysis at our Wolverhampton laboratory, this testing comes with fast turnaround times, and the option for rapid analysis when needed.

Already using Eurofins’ EtO testing services?

Our clients already using Eurofins’ EtO testing service, will experience a shorter turnaround time with a one-day improvement due to the analysis now being delivered locally in Wolverhampton. No action is required as your quotes will be updated to include the new test code (UDP0X), and there will be no changes to your current pricing. Going forward, simply select the new test code when submitting food additives and thickeners for analysis to take advantage of this enhanced service.
