Eurofins Forensic Services (EFS) offers a service for the screening of bovine, ovine and caprine brainstem samples (taken from fallen stock, i.e. animals which have been found dead or from animals slaughtered at abattoirs) for the presence of indicators of TSE (Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy).
The testing is carried out using a documented European Commission approved procedure. The screening of samples for the presence of BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) and Scrapie takes place in a high throughput, purpose built category 3 facility, with a dedicated, experienced TSE team.
EFS regularly provides feedback regarding sample quality to government bodies, abattoirs and disposal sites and is able to carry out sample assessments in order to help sites improve the quality of the samples which are received for testing. This feedback is provided in an effort to maintain sample efficiency and ensure that results are reported with minimal delay. Furthermore, EFS has a very close relationship with its customers and supports them through a customer care team that operates 24 hours a day. Keeping customers informed of important issues, such as potential delays to sample test result delivery, is a key priority.
EFS has a formal customer relationship management (CRM) approach that was adopted by our BSE team to ensure fluid and active communication and contract management. For all of our services we appoint a dedicated team consisting of; Account Manager (AM), Contract Manager (CM), Operational Manager (OM), Quality Manager (QM) and Scientific Lead (SL) that conduct monthly or quarterly business reviews to report on our key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
Quality Management is at the heart of all EFS’s activities. Reports are created to track a range of critical metrics, such as the time taken to run samples, and the time that test results are delivered. These reports are reviewed regularly and any event that may have impacted the efficiency of testing and delivery of test results is investigated immediately.
