Alcohol Testing - Body Hair
“Expert testing, definitive results”
Alcohol Testing in Body Hair
Alcohol testing in body hair, similar to hair strand testing, alcohol markers can be tested in body hair and scalp hair for extended periods. While traditional alcohol tests often focus on head hair, urine or blood samples, an increasingly popular method is alcohol testing in body hair. This innovative approach allows for a longer detection window, as alcohol markers can be detected in body hair for several months. Especially when head hair is not available, with the ability to provide a more comprehensive analysis of an individual's alcohol consumption history, body hair alcohol testing is an effective method to monitor the alcohol consumption behaviour for a long period of time.
Body hair alcohol markers:
Unlike alcohol in head hair, where ethyl glucuronide (EtG) and Fatty Acid Ethyl Esters (FAEE) also known as Ethyl palmitate (EtPa) is tested in hair, the Society of Hair testing (SoHT) recommends to only test ethyl glucuronide (EtG) in body hair.
- Ethyl glucuronide (EtG)
- Fatty Acid Ethyl Esters (FAEE)
- Ethyl palmitate (EtPa)
In theory any body hair sample can be tested for drugs and alcohol such as:
- Chest hair
- Armpit hair (axillary hair)
- Arm hair
- Leg hair
- Pubic hair
