What is SCRAM?
Like a Breathalyzer for the ankle, the SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring (SCRAM CAM) bracelet provides 24/7 transdermal alcohol testing for donors and is typically worn for 30, 60 or 90 days.. By automatically sampling the wearer’s perspiration every 30 minutes, the SCRAM CAM bracelet eliminates testing gaps and encourages accountability. Anti circumventions are in place that can detect Device Removals and Attempts to obstruct the samples being taken. The bracelet connects to a wireless Base Station for readings to be transmitted for reporting. Information from the bracelet is sent to the Base Station twice a day. If the donor is not in range of the Base Station, the bracelet will still gather information and transmit readings when the participant is back in range of the Base Station.
How do we report on SCRAM?
Daily, weekly and monthly reports of all readings can be provided to be presented to the court and we can also create bespoke notifications around drinking events depending on the needs of the case. SCRAM CAM not only supports sobriety but also results in higher compliance rates with court orders and increases community safety.
Why is SCRAM effective?
Continuous alcohol monitoring is proven to support long-term behaviour change and complements treatment for alcohol dependence or addiction. In fact, SCRAM CAM helps more people achieve more Sober Days—a 24-hour period in which a monitored client has no confirmed consumption of alcohol and no confirmed attempt to tamper or circumvent testing.
