At Eurofins Water Hygiene Testing, we are always looking for ways to improve our services and ensure you receive the highest quality results from your sample submissions. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our processes, we’ve noticed that while most samples arrive in appropriate containers, there are still some instances where samples are being submitted in bottles that are not suitable for chemistry analysis.
In the past, we have tested these samples and included notes about any deviations on our certificates. However, to provide more consistent and accurate results, we will be making some changes. Starting from Monday 21st October 2024, any samples submitted for chemistry analysis in unsuitable bottles will unfortunately not be tested, and a £10 disposal fee will be applied.
Here are a couple of examples of bottle types that cannot be used for chemistry analysis:
- Non-analytical containers, such as soft drink bottles.
- Microbiology bottles (e.g., red top 1L Legionella bottles or blue top 500ml Bacti bottles). Even if these bottles are washed or rinsed out, they remain unsuitable for chemistry testing because they are dosed with sodium thiosulphate which may affect the results.
To avoid any issues, we kindly ask that you refer to the bottle guide for the correct containers for chemistry analysis.
